Precision dental arts

At Precision Dental Arts, we have several options to help our patients relax and feel comfortable during their dental visits. Our sedation dentistry services include Nitrous Oxide (“laughing gas”) and Oral Sedation.

Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous oxide is a gas that can make most people feel calm and relaxed. It’s given to our patients during a visit before and/or during a procedure – such as a tooth extraction, a crown, fillings, or a cleaning. You simply breathe the nitrous oxide for the duration of the procedure, and once it’s over, you breathe oxygen for a few minutes. Then you will be all set to go about the rest of your day!

This very low-risk option makes you feel more at ease during the procedure. The calmer and more relaxed you are, the easier and quicker we are able to finish up your dental care appointment.

Oral Sedation

Oral sedation, also called conscious sedation, involves taking a pill to help your mind and body relax during your dental appointment. The effects of the pill can also make you feel drowsy and, for some people, you may experience slight amnesia. These effects also last several hours. Because of this, this form of sedation requires that you have an escort to and from your appointment.

Your medical history and any medications you take must be evaluated by Dr. Moorhead before deciding if oral sedation is a safe option for you. This is to avoid any common risks associated with this sedation method.
